Design approach

The website uses semantic headings, visible focusable links, a skip-to-content link, labelled form controls, responsive layouts, text alternatives for content images and a navigation menu that can be operated with standard controls.

Colour is not intended to be the only way important information is conveyed. Text is set against high-contrast backgrounds in the main reading areas, and the site does not rely on auto-playing video, flashing content or timed interactions.

Zoom and reflow

The responsive design is intended to reflow on smaller screens and at increased browser zoom. Some source URLs and tables may require horizontal scrolling on narrow devices, but the main content remains available without a fixed desktop layout.

Generated images

Illustrative images include alternative text and are not used as the sole carrier of essential factual information.
